Nestled on the banks of the mighty Colorado River, the Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa sits in the midst of some of the most awe inspiring scenery on the planet. As you would imagine, it’s close proximity to Arches National Park means it is surrounded by towering red buttes and rugged dessert scenery with the Colorado River flowing past its doors.

The Colorado River.

The luxurious 5 star resort offers a variety of accommodation within its 55 rooms, including Mesa Studios and Suites, with views of the famous red buttes; River Studio rooms, with incredible views of the Colorado River; Family Suites, offering 2 bedrooms with 1 king bed and 2 queen size beds, a kitchenette and a porch where you can enjoy peaceful views of the River and a private residence for larger groups with 4 bedrooms plus an additional 2 bedroom cottage attached. None of the accommodation is cheap, but if you can afford it, well worth it to experience the incredible surroundings and the peace and tranquility of the ranch.

We stayed in one of the Family Suites, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sorrel River Ranch. The room was large enough for us to be able to spread out, and it was clean with great amenities. Simply nothing beats the views outside your windows, though, or the pleasure of sitting on your porch watching the sun set over the buttes and down the Colorado River.

Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa offers guests an array of adventure activities to make the most of your time in the area, including hiking, horseback riding, jeep and 4×4 adventure driving, mountain biking, jet boat rides and rafting, as well as scenic flights, helicopter tours, ballooning and sky diving.

If it’s outdoor adventure in amazing scenery you want, then Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa offers it and depending on your budget, any of the options on offer are a wonderful way to see the surrounding area.

The resort’s pool area is lovely.

If adventuring is not what you’ve come to Moab for, the resort has a lovely pool area, which I must admit, was pretty cold when we were there, and a peaceful wellness spa where you can go to relax and unwind and soak up the tranquility while enjoying a lovely massage, facial or body treatment. Alternatively, you can take a dip in the chilly Colorado River, as we tried to do!!

Dinner in the River Grill was an upmarket affair, and the Ranch very much promotes its farm to table philosophy so the menu changes regularly.

The farm to table philosophy.

It is also pretty pricey, in fitting with the rest of the resort, but we enjoyed our meals, getting to sample both elk and buffalo, although I couldn’t say our girls enjoyed it as much as we did. What our girls did enjoy was the after dinner campfire s’mores experience and what they didn’t eat at dinner, they made up for in s’mores eating!

More s’mores!

That was wonderful, and as Australian’s, it wasn’t something we’d ever experienced before, so we all had a great time!

Overall, we loved the Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and we would love to stay again. Due to the high price tag, it’s not something we could do regularly, unfortunately, but it’s high on our list of ‘Must Return to Hotels’.

Jaw dropping scenery!
